Adel Abidin manie un humour caustique et dénonce les artifices de la société de l’information par un regard distancié et poétique.
Son travail, souvent subversif, toujours ironique, s’exprime à travers la vidéo, l’installation ou la photographie. Interrogeant les codes de la religion, de la politique et de la communication, il mène une critique acerbe de la société et de son fonctionnement.
Adel Abidin a représenté la Finlande à la Biennale de Venise, en 2007, en présentant Abidin travels, une agence de voyages fictive.
En 2011, il retourne à nouveau à Venise pour représenter cette fois l'Irak avec une installation vidéo, Comsumption of war. Cette pièce est présentée dans cette exposition à l'Espace Croisé.
Adel Abidin est né en 1973 en Irak. Il vit et travaille à Helsinki, en Finlande.

Adel Abidin has a caustic sense of humour and speaks out against the tricks
of the information society through an aloof and poetic eye.
His work, which is often subversive and invariably ironical, is expressed through video,
installation and photography. In challenging the codes of religion, politics and communication, in each of his works he undertakes a harsh criticism of society, and the way it functions.
Adel Abidin represented Finland at the 2007 Venice Biennale, where he presented “Abidin Travels”, a fictitious travel agency. In 2011, he returned once again to Venice, this time to represent Iraq with a video installation, Consumption of War. This piece is on view in this show at the Espace Croisé.
Adel Abidin was born in 1973 in Iraq. He lives and works in Helsinki, Finland.
